There are 2 men.
There is one object that both crave.
It can be taken by only one of them.
They can get the object if and only if they work together.
Question : Will they work for getting this object?
(On a quick note, assume that there is no past affecting this decision. And there is nothing else there that they want or they can get.)
Have fun!!!
A doubt: If they both work together, will they both get the object, individually, they crave for?
ReplyDeletenopes.. only one will get it.. they have to decide first before starting to work on it.

ReplyDelete3 cases i can think of :
ReplyDeleteHollywood Style : Ultimately both will work together, but the one with more power/convincing skills/influence/watever will get the object.
Bollywood Style : Ultimately both will work together, but one will sacrifice for the other
Tollywood Style : Ultimately both will get the object, irrespective of any conditions
:P
How many communist countries are still flourishing? Of course communism adds more dimensions to the problem. Its no longer about someone working or not but working how much and who get how much and all that.
ReplyDeleteOn a more individual scale, if both the people are already aware of the situation they are in, there is but only one reason why they would want to work on it. Achieve the goal and toss a coin to see who gets it. After all, a 50% chance is any day better than no chance at all. You see it happening in everyday. Ever played a last man standing map on Quake or Unreal?
They can't decide beforehand who gets it. Why would the loser still work with the other guy?
ReplyDeleteThere would be some pre-decided measure of say effort, or result agreed upon beforehand. At the end, one who measures up more would get the object.
To think about it, it's an oversimplified case of who gets the promotion!
ReplyDeletethe best approach: work together, get the object, let a coin toss decides who keeps it.
ReplyDeleteIn case of promotion, there is someone else judging the efforts. Here there is no one to judge their efforts. So more convincing or powerful guy will get it eventually even though they will end up working together. Most probably, the guy with more power/influence will lead the other guy into believing that he has a fair chance or even greater than fair chance by agreeing on the rules that favor the other guy. Ultimately More powerful guy will be able to bully the weaker guy.
